Heritage Sites

A page that honors some of the sites that provided some of the great materials that have been used over the years.

A beautiful home was built in the early 1700s in Griswold, CT.  Unfortunately, it took a fire up one side and was slated for demolition.  Fortunately, the owner was kind enough to allow me to take whatever I wanted before the bulldozers showed up.   The floor joists were made of beautiful White Oak, which is being showcased in the kitchen table and matching dog bowl.  The pictures don't do it justice, as the figuring and lacing in the grain came from being over 300 years old, and the tree that was felled to build the home was probably a couple of hundred years old to begin with!

An old barn has yielded a lot of wood that has been used for a wide variety of projects.

Dilapidated horse barn provided so much great tongue-and-groove pine that has been used for several projects.

A beautifully aged cow barn has been falling for years, and the wood from this small building has been fun to showcase in several pieces (and the photo of this idyllic rural scene is beautiful).
