Small Items
Bottle Openers
One of my favorite small projects is making these bottle openers (which operate on the pull rather than the push), which allows me to honor pieces of wood from all walks of life, because it doesn't take much wood to make them. They come with a magnet so they can easily be stored against a fridge or other metal surface. As you can see, they come in all ranges of colors and styles, from rough and raw to smooth and refined. Materials vary as far as your imagination, but these are made from California Redwood, carefully chosen pieces of cherry from old furniture, a variety of white oak that are made from an old 1950s shuffleboard-style bowling game, Zebrawood, Purpleheart, and Maple, just to name a few. The are for sale at $20 a piece, and custom orders can be made...just think of the stocking stuffer or wedding party gift ideas!!
Coasters
Custom coaster sets can be made from a huge variety of materials. The ones below are made from an old oak board, and that character is authentic, not manufactured. Fitted with felt on the back to keep it in place, these make a great gift and are perfect for that woodworker in your family! They are for sale for $30 for a set of four.
Charcuterie and Cheese Boards
These boards range in price from $80-$100 a piece.
These two charcuterie boards are made from Ambrosia Maple with live edge accents with a galaxy blue and emerald-green epoxy-filled letters for the clients last names.
This beautiful piece of black walnut, has a featured knot hole filled with a dark green epoxy. This two-sided board looks dramatically different on each side. It is offered for sale for $100.
Table Top Display
This tabletop display stand was a fun little project made out an old Beechnut tree that was cut down in the historic Wilcox Park in Westery, RI. It also features a pair of black hand-forged steel legs. The rings of the grain are mesmerizing!
